Dr. Moloney graduated from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he is currently an adjunct faculty member in the OMM department. He also has a private practice in Marin County CA. He completed a Family Medicine residency at Downey Regional Medical Center CA, and a Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine residency at Florida Hospital, East Orlando and loved every minute of it.
Dr Moloney’s prior experience as a massage therapist greatly informed his decision to attend osteopathic (DO) medical school rather than a more traditional allopathic (MD) medical school. While both college systems have almost identical basic training, it was osteopathy’s emphasis on touch as a fundamental aspect of diagnosis and treatment that won him over. As an osteopathic family practice resident he had an opportunity to not only deliver babies, but also to immediately treat them for delivery trauma. He was taught that a sports physical evaluates more than “being safe to play a sport.” It evaluates how to maximize your ability to play that sport. And, low back pain is no longer just the natural result of a certain number of “birthdays” but becomes an approachable physical challenge.
Modern medical advances have a lot to offer patients and Dr Moloney is very forward thinking about all approaches to health challenges. He utilizes lab testing and radiology studies to better inform his discussions however, he mostly listens, then asks a lot of questions, spends time with his patients and frequently comes up with novel approaches to vexing problems.
I feel very fortunate to practice medicine in a way I can believe in. I enjoy the challenge of staying current and relevant for both my patients and my own well being.
